How to get here
The Østfoldbadet Water Park is situated in downtown Askim and is easy to find. If you are driving on the E18 highway from Oslo vy Vinterbo, take the “Askim vest” turn at the roundabout before the motorway starts. On RV 128, you will see a large sign with directions to Østfoldbadet at the roundabout near the windmill. Continue through towards the city centre. After a few metres you will see a Statoil petrol station, and Østfoldbadet is straight behind here. An enormous car park is situated between the petrol station, the AskimTorget shopping mall and Østfoldbadet. The entrance is around 100m after the petrol station, adjacent to the shopping mall.
Here is a map and how to find Østfoldbadet from where you live.

When can I have the best experiences at Østfoldbadet?
That depends what you are looking for!
Some people are looking for peace and quirt and prefer to be almost alone in the pool, while others prefer lots of people and action. We have made this overview to help you plan your optimal visit to Østfoldbadet.
Quiet periods
Mornings and afternoons on weekdays are generally quiet periods for those who prefer to enjoy life in the pool practically alone. Check if school classes or other groups have scheduled swimming times.
Busiest periods
Saturdays and Sundays during winter, particularly between midday and 3 pm, are the most hectic times. This also applies on all days during the autumn and winter school holidays and at Easter. At those times, we often experience a full house here, but for reasons of safety and demands for water quality, we do not admit more people at any one time than the centre is designed for.
A good tip: Start or end the day here. If you come before 11:30 am or after 3:30 pm, there is generally no queue even on the busiest of days.
Diving:
Diving is possible at all times other than Monday evenings (after 7 pm) and Wednesdays (8 pm – 9 pm) when water aerobics takes place. For safety reasons and out of consideration to other users, we alternate between 1+3 m boards and 1+5 m boards.
Water slides:
Both water slides are open at all times the water park is open. During quiet earning morning periods, we start the slides when guests want to use them.
Disco evening:
Every Friday at 9 pm, we dim the lights and turn on the music. We adjust the volume to suit the guests’ requirements, and it’s often higher when the teenagers enter the pool.
Family pool:
Always open and available – we turn on the waves every 30 minutes and the rapid river goes six times an hour.
Therapeutic pool:
Østfold Hospital hires the pool for rehabilitation every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. The pool is also used at set times by the Rheumatic Society, the Fibromyalgia Society and for our scheduled baby swimming courses and swim courses for children and adults. See the list at the bottom of the “Opening Hours” page.
The therapeutic pool is open to the public on Tuesdays until 1 pm. Friday afternoon/evening and Thursday mornings are also safe times. The same applies for a few hours on Wednesday afternoon and later in the evening. During weekends and holiday periods, the therapeutic pool is reserved for our guests.
Jacuzzi:
Open 77 hours a week – no regular users
Saunas:
Open 77 hours a week. A separate dry sauna is available for adults.
Østfoldbadet Café
The same opening hours as for the water park, with service both inside the water park and at the foyer café. This is a great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or a quick dinner with a wide-ranging menu.
Safety
The safety of our guests is our top priority. We have a great view over the entire water park from the lifeguards’ room. Six surveillance cameras are also installed to improve guest safety, with two cameras positioned at the deepest end of the family and sports pools. The lifeguards have good control of all pools and water slides from their position.
A lifeguard is poolside when ever the wave machine is in operation in case anyone should require assistance. We always provide a one-minute warning before we start the wave machine so non competent swimmers have a chance to move away.
Internal, wireless communication between the lifeguards means assistance is close at hand when required.
Lost and found property
We find personal belongings left behind in the changing rooms and near the pools every evening. We retain all belongings we find for two weeks. Items not recovered are donated to charity. If you are missing something, please contact reception during our normal opening hours – phone +47 69 81 99 00 – and our staff will check if the item has been found here. Identified property is labelled and kept in our storeroom. We are also happy to send items back to their owner if the owner sends an envelope or box bearing the appropriate postal fee.
Highlights on TV
A water park provides many highlights – both in the pools and on TV. There are three TVs in the café area, which are turned on where there are major sporting fixtures or other events, such as a royal wedding. Here, you can combine football internationals, world championships in various sports and other major events with well-being in tropical warmth, swimming and relaxing and good food at Spiseri Neptun. PS! We don’t show soap operas!
Lane swimming
At leas tone lane is open for swimming at all times, butt hat is often not sufficient. On Monday evenings, we close the diving boards at 7 pm so lane swimmers can have the entire pool at their disposal as soon as the swimming club training session concludes at 7:30 pm.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings are an ideal time. When the early morning swimmers leave the pool around 7:30 am, there is little activity in the pool until around 10 am. When no school groups are here, there are excellent swimming conditions all morning.
Weekday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm are also normally good periods for lane swimming.
The swimming club has training from Monday – Thursday from 4 pm to 7:30 pm in two or three lanes, and the pool can be a bit crowded at this time.
